CALLED COUNCIL MEETING
MINUTES
August 22, 2019
7:00 P.M.
The Roscoe City Council met in a called meeting on August 22, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting being open to the public and notice of said meeting giving the date, place and subject thereof, having been prescribed by law, there being present the following members: Mayor Frank Porter, Edwin Duncan, Billy Joe Jay, Robert McBride, Susie Alford and KC Hope. City Attorney, Zollie Steakley, was absent.
Mayor Porter called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. stating a quorum was present. Billy Joe Jay led the invocation.
Council held a budget workshop on the General and System Funds of the City. Mr. Thompson informed Council that the tax rate will go down by 3 cents per $100.00 valuation; the property values increased by approximately $2,000,000.00. We won’t have to have any public hearing on the rates. Mr. Thompson also discussed with Council the possibility of obtaining a 50-50 grant through Texas Parks and Wildlife for improvements to the Baseball Park and the swimming pool. We will have our grant consultant look into that matter. He also stated that the Type A Tax Board could pay for the rate study.
The meeting adjourned at 7:32 p.m.
